I have long been interested in the ability of portrait photography to convey personality. When working with other people, I felt timid about asking them to try different things if I wasn’t sure the ideas would work out. Thus began my exploration of self-portraiture. I am interested in examining the power of image beyond superficial likeness and delving into inner psychological states. The lessons learned have become an integral part of my craft as a photographer. I know that I will continue to shoot self-portraits because they have continued to yield surprises, which is part of the mystery, and love, of photography for me.
